WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement commemorating the start of African American History Month, which begins on Friday, February 1st:
“African American History Month gives us the opportunity to celebrate the many notable African Americans who have helped shape Nevada and our country. As we reflect on the remarkable accomplishments that African American leaders have made across all of our nation’s institutions, let’s also remember that the African American experience in the United States is one of perseverance in the face of persecution and injustice,” said Senator Rosen. “While we recognize the incredible strides made in the name of civil rights, the fight for justice and equality for all must always remain on our nation’s conscience as a cause that strengthens our democracy.”
