Rosen Applauds Biden Administration Actions to Tackle the Climate Crisis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement applauding President Biden for taking action to tackle the climate crisis:

“The climate crisis is a growing threat that puts our health, our national security, and our economy at risk,” said Senator Rosen. “Today’s actions by President Biden reinforce our country’s commitment to addressing this urgent issue and take proactive steps to combat climate change. The executive actions include supporting clean energy jobs and infrastructure projects, halting new oil and gas leasing on public lands, increasing conservation efforts, and restoring scientific integrity and evidence-based decision making. I look forward to working with the Biden Administration to find practical solutions that protect our environment and confront climate change.”

BACKGROUND: Senator Rosen is a member of the bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus. The caucus brings together an equal number of Republicans and Democrats to craft and advance bipartisan solutions to address climate change.

Last Congress, Senator Rosen helped introduce the Clean Economy Act, legislation that would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to implement policies that will help the United States achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, as well as boost American competitiveness, promote healthier communities, and foster a growing and fair economy.

Last Congress, Senator Rosen signed onto a resolution which acknowledges that climate change is real; that human activity during the last century is the dominant cause of the climate crisis; and that Congress should take immediate action to address this crisis.

Last Congress, Senator Rosen co-sponsored the Scientific Integrity Act, legislation that would create uniform standards for U.S. agencies to ensure that federal scientific research is free from political, financial, or ideological influence.
