On the Anniversary of Republican Plan Threatening to Sunset Social Security and Medicare, Rosen, Cortez Masto Renew Support for Critical Programs

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, on the anniversary of the far-right Senate Republican plan threatening Social Security and Medicare, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) renewed their commitment to fighting back against any attempts in Congress to cut Social Security and Medicare.

“Social Security and Medicare are lifelines that provide financial stability to Nevada’s seniors so they can retire with dignity, and I will always fight against any attempts to cut or target these critically important programs,” said Senator Rosen. “Nevada seniors paid into Social Security and Medicare throughout their lives, and I will keep fighting to protect these benefits.”

“My grandfather worked in casinos and my grandmother worked retail her entire life in Las Vegas, and when they retired, they depended on Social Security and Medicare—just like so many Nevada seniors today,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “These programs are critical for Nevadans to retire with dignity, and I’ll never stop fighting against far-right Republicans who want to gut seniors’ hard-earned benefits.”

Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have been staunch supporters of both Social Security and Medicare. They have vocally and repeatedly called to protect them and the benefits they provide to Americans.
