LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II hosted a Senior Resource Fair at the Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Center in North Las Vegas to highlight federal, state, and local resources available to seniors in the community to improve access to health care, affordable housing, and prescription drugs. During the event, Senator Rosen spoke about her work in the Senate to protect Social Security and Medicare, lower health care prices, and improve assistance for Nevada’s senior veterans.
“Standing up for Nevada’s seniors and ensuring they have the support they need is a priority for my office,” said Senator Rosen. “I was glad to partner with Commissioner McCurdy to host this event and meet with seniors in Southern Nevada to share how I am fighting for them in the Senate by protecting programs like Social Security and Medicare and making federal and state resources more accessible.”
“I’m happy to have partnered with Senator Rosen today at the MLK Senior Center to bring much-needed resources to the senior community and a bit of fun,” said Commissioner McCurdy.
Senator Rosen has worked tirelessly to ensure seniors in Nevada have the benefits and resources they deserve. Last Congress, Senator Rosen voted for and worked to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which helped lower prescription drug costs for seniors by allowing Medicare to negotiate with drug companies. It also capped out-of-pocket insulin costs for Medicare recipients at $35 a month, and made most vaccines free for seniors. Senator Rosen also introduced the Supporting Our Seniors Act, bipartisan legislation to help address issues related to long-term care for seniors, including service delivery, financing, and access to affordable care.
