Thanks To Rosen-Backed Legislation, The University Of Nevada, Reno Has Been Tapped To Spearhead Nevada’s Regional Tech Hub Boosting America’s Lithium Supply Chain
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that Brian Sandoval, former Nevada Governor and current President of the University of Nevada, Reno, will be her guest at this year’s State of the Union address. The University – which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year – was recently designated as one of 31 Tech Hubs around the nation through a program authorized by the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act that Senator Rosen helped pass.
“President Brian Sandoval has spearheaded efforts to make the University of Nevada, Reno a global leader in innovation, bolstering critical industries in our state and creating good-paying jobs,” said Senator Rosen. “I was proud to work with him to help establish the University’s Lithium Loop Tech Hub and ensure northern Nevada becomes a world-class destination for lithium battery and electric vehicle technology. It is my honor to have President Sandoval as my guest at this year’s State of the Union address and highlight the work the University is doing to transform Nevada’s economy and support American clean energy.”

The University’s designation as a Tech Hub is a recognition of Nevada’s potential to become a global lithium leader, home to every part of the lithium supply chain. Senator Rosen helped secure this designation, and she’s been working with President Sandoval to push for funding for the University’s Lithium Loop Tech Hub. Last month, along with members of Nevada’s congressional delegation, Senator Rosen sent a letter to the Department of Commerce supporting the University’s official application for funding.
