Rosen, Cortez Masto Helped Secure Millions in Funding for Water Treatment and Infrastructure in Northern Nevada

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced they helped secure $30 million for the Truckee Meadow Water Authority to support water treatment and infrastructure to help make Northern Nevada’s water supply more drought resilient. This funding comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto helped pass, and the senators provided a letter of support on behalf of this project.

“As Nevada confronts more frequent and extreme drought, it’s critical that we make investments to protect our water supply,” said Senator Rosen. “I worked to secure this funding to update our water infrastructure and ensure a clean, reliable water supply in Northern Nevada. I’ll keep pushing to deliver federal funding for our state.”

“It is critical for us to invest in innovative solutions that will protect our state’s water resources,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “That is why I’m proud to have helped secure these federal funds through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to provide Washoe County communities with a new, locally controlled, and drought resistant water supply.”

Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have been leaders in supporting investments for clean water infrastructure. Earlier this year, they announced that they helped secure more than $44 million for drinking water and clean water infrastructure in Nevada. Last fall, they announced nearly $40 million in funding for drinking water and water infrastructure projects in Nevada. Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto also helped pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which will continue to make historic investments in water and wastewater infrastructure improvements across the country, including through the funding for this project.
