WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, met with former Congressman Sean Duffy, President-Elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Transportation. During their meeting, Senator Rosen highlighted the importance of the travel and tourism industry for Nevada’s economy, and expressed her willingness to work with the former Congressman to support the state’s transportation infrastructure.
“I was pleased to meet with former Congressman Sean Duffy today to discuss a wide variety of topics related to his nomination, including the importance of the travel and tourism industry for Nevada’s economy,” said Senator Rosen. “Nevada relies on strong transportation infrastructure to support our tourism and hospitality economy, and I conveyed to Congressman Duffy the importance of a strong relationship between Nevada and the Department of Transportation. I look forward to working with him in the future.”
As a member of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Senator Rosen has been an advocate for Nevada’s transportation and infrastructure interests. She worked to write and pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to create good-paying jobs and upgrade Nevada’s infrastructure. Earlier this year, she announced nearly $5 million in funding for clean transportation at Harry Reid International Airport. Last year, Senator Rosen announced that she successfully pushed the Department of Transportation to secure $3 billion and begin construction of the Brightline West high-speed rail system in Las Vegas, which will help bolster Southern Nevada’s tourism economy and reduce congestion on the Interstate-15 corridor.
