This First-Of-Its-Kind Mixed-Use Development Project Will Combine Affordable Housing With Retail, Office Space, And Dedicated Areas For Small Business Entrepreneurs
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) attended the groundbreaking of the Lake Mead Microbusiness Park, a first-of-it-kind mixed-use development that will combine affordable housing with retail, office space, and dedicated areas for small business entrepreneurs. In 2022, Senator Rosen helped secure $1 million in federal funding for Clark County to help this project become a reality. It will create 76 housing units and more than 20,000 square feet of commercial space, aiming to revitalize the local community while providing quality housing for residents earning 80 percent or below the area median income.
“As Nevada grows and housing prices continue to rise, we need innovative solutions to meet our housing needs and allow families to live in the communities they work in,” said Senator Rosen. “I was thrilled to attend the groundbreaking for the Lake Mead Microbusiness Park, which will increase the space available for housing and small businesses side-by-side. As Las Vegas continues to face challenges in the land available for development, I’ll continue working on creative ways to increase our housing options.”
Senator Rosen is working to lower housing costs and bring relief to hardworking families. Earlier this month, she sent a letter urging the Trump Administration to reverse course on imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico to prevent housing prices from rising even further. Earlier this year, Rosen introduced bipartisan legislation to invest in the construction workforce to help lower housing costs. Last year, she urged HUD to increase the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority’s (SNRHA) Housing Choice Vouchers allocation by 10,000 vouchers over five years.
