LAS VEGAS, NV – U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced that the City of Carlin will receive a $3.2 million U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan to help the City make vital repairs to their wastewater treatment system, including replacing aging pipes and equipment. The funding will also help replace over five miles of sewer and 50 manhole covers in the area.
“I applaud the Department of Agriculture for providing a $3.2 million loan to the City of Carlin to help make important upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment operation,” said Senator Rosen. “I’ll continue working to make sure rural communities across Nevada continue to have access to clean and safe drinking water.”
“This investment will help the City of Carlin create new construction jobs and make critical repairs to aging water pipelines and equipment,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “I’m proud to partner with rural communities across the state to make sure they have what they need to protect Nevada families’ access to safe, drinkable water and reliable infrastructure.”
Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have been leaders in the Senate in work to support water infrastructure. In recent government funding legislation, they secured $34.4 million for Nevada’s clean and wastewater projects. They also helped draft and pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which will continue to make a historic amount of funding available for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements across the country.
