WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) released the following statement applauding a grant for $609,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to Nevada’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), to be used to enforce the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations and the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
“It is critical that all Nevadans have access to clean, safe drinking water,” said the Senators. “We applaud the EPA for providing this grant which will go toward enforcing the Safe Drinking Water Act across our state. We will continue working to support programs that keep our water clean and protect public health.”
BACKGROUND: This grant will assist the State of Nevada in developing and implementing a public water system supervision program to adequately enforce the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations and the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act. DCNR will utilize the grant to fund its Bureau of Safe Drinking Water program to implement the following activities: regulation adoption and implementation, technical assistance to public water systems, enforcement, and data management.
