Rosen Is Also Pushing To Prevent Lawmakers From Receiving Paychecks During A Shutdown
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) voted to avoid a government shutdown that would have been devastating for Nevada families. This legislation, which passed by an overwhelming bipartisan vote, also extends the pay raise for federal wildland firefighters that Senator Rosen has been pushing for and the reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration through the end of the year.
“I voted for bipartisan legislation to avoid a government shutdown that will ensure Nevada families and seniors continue to get the food assistance they need, veterans get the services they deserve, and our troops and federal law enforcement get their paychecks on time,” said Senator Rosen. “Shutting down the federal government would have been devastating for our economy. Nevadans are sick and tired of this dysfunction, which is why I’m working with Republicans and Democrats to force Washington politicians to pass commonsense government funding legislation on time.”
Earlier this year, Senator Rosen helped introduce the bipartisan No Budget, No Pay Act, which would prohibit lawmakers from getting paid if Congress fails to pass government funding legislation, ensuring that no member of Congress continues to receive a paycheck while millions of Americans cannot during a shutdown.
