WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, extreme Republicans blocked a Rosen-backed bill in the U.S. Senate that would have protected women’s access to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and other assisted reproductive treatments. The Access to Family Building Act would safeguard families’ ability to start or grow a family by establishing a legal right to access IVF and other assisted reproductive services. Last week, the Alabama Supreme Court issued an opinion that tried to block access to IVF treatments in the state.
“Let’s be clear: IVF access is under attack after anti-choice extremists overturned Roe v. Wade,” said Senator Rosen. “Extreme Republicans in the Senate blocked efforts to try to protect women’s ability to start or grow their families through IVF treatment.”
