This Funding Comes From The Inflation Reduction Act’s Solar For All Grant Program
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced they helped secure $156 million to expand access to solar energy for Nevadans, making it more accessible and affordable for communities. This funding comes from the Solar for All grant program that the Senators created through the Inflation Reduction Act and helped pass. This historic funding will help create jobs, lower energy costs for Nevadans, and address the climate crisis.
“Every time we invest in Nevada’s solar industry, we invest in good-paying jobs in our state,” said Senator Rosen. “I was proud to help secure $156 million to expand Nevadans’ access to solar energy, helping create more jobs and lower energy costs. I’ll continue leading the fight to invest in clean energy and lower costs for all Nevadans.”
“Nevada is leading the nation in solar energy, and this grant will make it easier for all communities to take part in our clean energy future,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “I’ll continue to work to support programs that invest in solar projects, establish partnerships, and create good-paying jobs while lowering energy costs for Nevada families.”
Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have worked to support Nevada’s clean energy economy. Senator Rosen has been a strong supporter of Nevada’s solar industry, successfully leading the charge, joined by Senator Cortez Masto, against solar tariffs that would have decimated the industry. Both Senators also helped secure vital extensions of the renewable energy investment tax credit and the residential renewable energy tax credit to boost solar energy and helped expand these tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Senator Cortez Masto championed legislation in the IRA to make it easier for Tribes in Nevada to launch critical energy development projects, and she introduced legislation to expand the solar manufacturing supply chain in the U.S. The Senators have worked together to support solar jobs and boost domestic solar manufacturing.
