WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced her co-sponsorship of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund Replenishment Act of 2021, bipartisan legislation to provide the Restaurant Revitalization Fund – established by the Rosen-backed American Rescue Plan Act – with an additional $60 billion in funding to meet the outstanding demand for the program.
“Nevada’s vibrant restaurant community makes up a key part of our state economy. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, local restaurants have faced severe economic challenges,” said Senator Rosen. “The American Rescue Plan Act – which I was proud to help pass – has provided much-needed relief during this challenging time; however, we must do more. This bipartisan legislation would build upon our efforts to help restaurants in Nevada and nationwide, providing them with critical funding to keep their doors open while we work to recover from this pandemic.”
BACKGROUND: In March, Senator Rosen voted to pass the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, legislation that was signed into law on March 11, 2021. The bill included $25 billion in direct aid to restaurants through the Restaurant Revitalization Fund.
In September 2020, Senator Rosen co-sponsored the RESTAURANTS Act (S. 4012), bipartisan legislation to create a multi-billion-dollar revitalization fund at the U.S. Department of the Treasury to provide grants to restaurants, food stands, food trucks, food carts, caterers, saloons, inns, taverns, bars, lounges, and other similar businesses to help with expenses such as payroll, benefits, mortgage, rent, utilities, maintenance, supplies, food, and debt obligations to suppliers. The American Rescue Plan Act’s Restaurant Revitalization Fund is based on this legislation.
