RTC Expects to Receive More Than $150 Million in New Funding Over the Next Five Years to Improve Roadways and Transit
LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), one of the co-authors of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, toured the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada’s Sunset Maintenance Facility with RTC Vice Chairman and Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones to see firsthand how the recently enacted infrastructure package will directly benefit local public transit. One week ago today, Senator Rosen was at the White House as President Biden signed this historic infrastructure package into law.
According to Commissioner Jones, the RTC will receive more than $150 million in new funding over the next five years to improve roadways and transit through projects that support safety, equity, modernization, and climate action. The RTC oversees public transportation, traffic management, roadway design and construction funding, transportation planning and regional planning efforts across Southern Nevada. The RTC plans to operate a 100% zero-emission transit fleet by 2035, and the Sunset Maintenance Facility services hundreds of transit vehicles for the region.

This new law will make a tangible, meaningful difference for Nevadans, speeding up commute times and improving quality of life for hardworking families.”

Senator Rosen was “one of the architects of the legislation” as part of the bipartisan group that negotiated and drafted the final $1.2 trillion infrastructure package and helped write key airport and broadband sections of the bill as she worked to secure critical wins for Nevada. The final infrastructure package also includes the text of three of Senator Rosen’s bills: the Middle Mile Broadband Deployment Act, the TOURISM Act, and the Cyber Sense Act. Senator Rosen joined senators of both parties in voting to pass the landmark infrastructure package in August.
