WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced that the American Battery Technology Company in Reno will receive $9,999,378 in federal grant funding from the Department of Energy (DOE) thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that both senators helped pass. The funding will help create good-paying jobs, advance and expand electric vehicle battery recycling and reuse, while making sure Nevada and America’s clean-energy industry has the components it needs to continue growing.
“As we work towards a clean energy future, Nevada can lead the way by bolstering our domestic energy manufacturing and creating jobs,” said Senator Rosen. “This grant, which I helped secure through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will provide nearly $10 million to advance electric vehicle battery manufacturing and recycling in Nevada, which will create good-paying jobs and strengthen our energy supply chain.”

Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have worked to support Nevada’s cutting-edge clean-energy economy. Through her Innovation State Initiative, Senator Cortez Masto has been a longtime proponent of renewable and sustainable energy. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law also includes legislation Cortez Masto secured to promote Nevada’s mining and emerging battery industries and set up a sustainable critical mineral supply chain, and American Battery Technology Company and other Nevada companies have directly benefited from those provisions in the infrastructure law. Senator Rosen secured a provision in the bipartisan CHIPS and Science package to support advanced manufacturing workforce development and help fill the gap caused by the growth of U.S. advanced manufacturing jobs. Senator Rosen also led the fight to protect American solar energy, support solar jobs, and boost domestic solar manufacturing.
