EUREKA, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) met with Eureka County officials to discuss the severe flooding the community experienced this spring and the federal funding they received to address it, as well as other county priorities. During the meeting, Senator Rosen highlighted the resources she pushed to secure to help mitigate the effects of the storms, and she highlighted the work she’s doing to ensure Nevada’s counties and Tribal communities receive their fair share of federal funding.
“Severe flooding due to heavy rains this spring and large amounts of snow this winter caused significant damage in Eureka County,” said Senator Rosen. “Today I heard firsthand from local leaders about the damage they’re continuing to deal with, how federal funding has helped them rebuild, and how I can continue to support their recovery efforts at the federal level. We also discussed other priorities for the county, and how I will continue delivering for hardworking families across Eureka.”
Senator Rosen has been fighting to get federal resources to address the natural disasters that affected Nevada earlier this year. She led a letter in support of Governor Joe Lombardo’s request for additional resources and urging President Biden to issue a Major Disaster Declaration for Nevada in the wake of these severe storms. As a result, President Biden issued the declaration, which provided Nevada with federal resources to repair homes, businesses, and other infrastructure damaged by the flooding, rockslides, and landslides.
