WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, announced her co-sponsorship of S. 824, the Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Expansion Act, bipartisan legislation to extend a pilot program for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) across the country for an additional two years.
“Caring for your mental health is just as important as caring for your physical health,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “This bipartisan legislation will allow behavioral health clinics to continue to operate and provide critical services for Nevadans. I will continue to support legislation that benefits all aspects of Nevadans’ health.”
BACKGROUND: Nevada is one of eight states participating in this successful pilot program, which is set to expire on June 30, 2019. CCBHCs are unique because they provide evidence-based outpatient mental health and substance use services, 24-hour crisis care, primary care screenings, and care coordination across health care settings. CCBHCs are required to work with law enforcement officers, veterans organizations, child welfare agencies, and schools to ensure no one falls through the cracks.
