WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, joined Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) in introducing the Six Triple Eight Congressional Gold Medal Act. This bipartisan legislation would award a Congressional Gold Medal to the women who served in the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, which was one of the only African-American Women’s Army Corps units to serve overseas during World War II.
“The women of the Six Triple Eight Battalion, including the brave Nevada women who made up its ranks, played a crucial role in the operations of our armed forces during the Second World War, and this recognition of their actions is long overdue, “dijo el Senador Rosen. “I am proud to join Senator Moran in introducing this legislation that would honor the incredible work and sacrifice of these barrier-breaking heroes and properly thank them for their service to our nation.”
