WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), met with superintendents from Humboldt, Storey, and Mineral County School Districts to discuss their priorities for the upcoming school year.
“As schools prepare to welcome students back in person for the Fall Semester, it is critical that students, teachers and administrators receive the support they need to have a safe and successful school year,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “I was proud to vote for the American Rescue Plan Act, which provided over $1.9 billion in funding for Nevada’s schools to help students who fell behind academically or struggled with mental health issues during the pandemic. The American Rescue Plan Act also provided stipends for student teachers to finish their education and expand the teacher workforce. I look forward to working with the superintendents and other Nevada educators to ensure that all our students have access to educational opportunity.”
BACKGROUND: Senator Rosen has supported the following legislation:
- Reopen and Rebuild America’s Schools Act, which would provide funding for much needed long-term improvements to public schools.
- los CARES Act, CRRSA, and American Rescue Plan, which provided funding to schools at unprecedented levels, allowing schools to support students, help close the technology gap, and provide food for students in need.
