WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that her office is returning more than $250,000 to the United States Treasury in money unspent from her official 2021 operating budget. This news marks over $1.1 million that Senator Rosen will have returned to the Treasury over the last five years that she has served in Congress since 2017.
“As a Senator, I have a responsibility to ensure Nevadans’ taxpayer dollars are used responsibly, and my office takes that charge seriously,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “This is the fifth year my office has come in under budget and returned money to the Treasury, and I will continue working in Washington to find ways to reduce government spending while enhancing our ability to serve the American people.”
BACKGROUND: Senator Rosen has supported a number of efforts to reduce government waste and abuse of taxpayer dollars in Washington. In March, Senator Rosen re-introduced the No Congressionally-Obligated Recurring Revenue Used as Pensions To Incarcerated Officials Now (No CORRUPTION) Act with Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), bipartisan legislation that would bar former Members of Congress who are convicted of bribery or other crimes related to their official duties from collecting their taxpayer-funded pensions. Senator Rosen has also led her colleagues in calling for greater transparency over potential fraudulent activities related to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) programs.
