WASHINGTON DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) applauded the Senate passing the bipartisan Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act, which will ensure that survivors of sexual harassment and assault have the right to pursue their claims in court. The legislation would invalidate existing forced arbitration clauses that prevent sexual assault and sexual harassment survivors from seeking justice and public accountability under the laws meant to protect them, and give survivors the option of suing in state, tribal or federal court. The legislation was passed by an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the House earlier this week and now heads to the President’s desk.
“For far too long, forced arbitration practices have silenced survivors and protected perpetrators,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “This bipartisan legislation will make it easier for survivors of sexual assault and harassment to hold their abusers accountable, and I look forward to it being signed into law.”
