Rosen Leads Colleagues in Requesting Funding to Combat Antisemitism, Strengthen U.S.-Israel Relationship

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) is leading dozens of Senate colleagues in letters to Senate appropriators urging them to provide increased funding for the U.S. State Department’s Office of the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism and the U.S.-Israel Homeland Security Program, and to fund the U.S.-Israel cybersecurity cooperation grant program created through Senator Rosen’s U.S.-Israel Cybersecurity Cooperation Enhancement Act via the FY2022 National Defense Authorization Act. Senator Rosen recently joined Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) in urging Senate appropriators to provide $500 million to fully fund U.S.-Israel missile defense cooperation. She also joined Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Kevin Cramer (R-ND) in requesting that Senate appropriators support the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Holocaust Education programming as authorized under her bipartisan legislation, the Never Again Education Act, which was signed into law in 2020.

“As you consider the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations bill, we respectfully request that you provide $1.5 million for the U.S. State Department’s Office of the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism,” wrote the Senators in support of the State Department’s Special Envoy. “To combat the rising tide of global antisemitism, the State Department’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism works to promote accurate Holocaust education, improve the safety and security of at-risk Jewish communities, ensure foreign public officials condemn antisemitic discourse, and strengthen foreign judicial systems in their prosecution of antisemitic incidents.”

“We write to respectfully request that you provide $2 million for the U.S.-Israel Homeland Security Program and $6 million for the U.S.-Israel cybersecurity cooperation grant program,” wrote the Senators in support of the U.S.-Israel security programs. “Israel has emerged as a global leader in developing technologies for homeland security, including cybersecurity. Recognizing Israel’s expertise, the United States is partnering with Israel through the U.S.-Israel Homeland Security Program to advance first responder technologies; secure critical infrastructure and public facilities; provide maritime, aviation, and border security; and prevent and respond to cyber-attacks.”
