TONOPAH, NV – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) kicked off a multi-day tour of communities across rural Nevada during this state work period in Goldfield and Tonopah. In Goldfield, Senator Rosen met with Esmeralda County Commissioner Timothy Hipp to discuss growth and expansion matters and how the federal government can help. In Tonopah, Senator Rosen met with Town Manager Joe Westerlund and toured the Tonopah Mining Park Museum, one of the town’s largest tourist attractions. She also visited the Tonopah Brewing Company to learn more about how she can continue helping address the challenges facing small businesses.
“It’s important to me to represent all of Nevada and make sure our rural communities and small businesses have the resources they need from the federal government,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “In Goldfield and Tonopah, I had the opportunity to hear directly from local officials and small business owners about how I can keep working to help them succeed.”
Senator Rosen has been a leader in the fight to secure funding and resources for rural communities. Just last week, Senators Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto announced that the Department of Interior awarded more than $29.1 million under the Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program to rural counties in Nevada for Fiscal Year 2022. Rosen has also led the charge to increase access to health care in rural communities, including by increasing access to mobile health care and addressing Nevada’s doctor shortage.
