WASHINGTON DC – Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced $3,897,814 in federal funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to support and expand local outdoor recreation in Nevada. Rosen and Cortez Masto championed permanent funding for LWCF in the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act they helped pass into law. These funds for Tribal, state, and local governments will improve local collaboration, enhance conservation efforts, and strengthen Nevada’s outdoor recreation economy.
“As Nevadans, we are lucky to live in a state with beautiful public lands and natural wonders that we can all enjoy,” said Senator Rosen. “I’m glad to announce that funding will be coming to help communities in Nevada expand access to local outdoor recreation and conserve land for future generations to enjoy.”

los LWCF, which is administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, is a bipartisan program that has supported conservation and recreation projects in Nevada and across the country for over 50 years. At no cost to taxpayers, LWCF supports increased public access to and protection for federal public lands and waters—including national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and recreation areas. It also provides matching grants to Tribal, state and local governments to support the acquisition and development of land for public parks and other outdoor recreation sites.
