WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced her bipartisan amendment with Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) to expand access to telehealth services available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) passed unanimously and is now included in the Senate version of the government funding package. Veterans who live in rural Nevada often have to travel long distances to a hospital, and they rely on telehealth services to access the medical care they need.
“In a state as large as Nevada, veterans in rural communities often have to travel for hours to visit hospitals and get the health care they need,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Telehealth services are crucial for giving our nation’s heroes access to medical care from the comfort of their own home. I’m proud that my bipartisan amendment to expand telehealth services for veterans will be included in the Senate’s government funding package.”
Senator Rosen has been a leader in supporting our nation’s servicemembers and veterans. She secured authorization for a new VA hospital in Reno and Nevada’s first-ever Veteran Business Outreach Center. Senator Rosen has also co-sponsored the bipartisan GUARD VA Benefits Act to protect veterans from predatory practices. Last year, she helped pass the bipartisan PACT Act to extend VA benefits and health care to all veterans suffering from illnesses as a result of exposure to burn pits and other toxins during their service overseas.
