WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that the bipartisan Commitment to Veteran Support and Outreach Act, which she co-sponsored, has passed the Senate. This bipartisan bill would authorize $50 million annually for five years to expand and support state and local entities that work to inform veterans of their eligibility for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs and services; file pension and compensation claims; and help them enroll in job, housing, disability, and education benefits.
“Despite the many services available to them, only a small fraction of veterans fully utilize the benefits they have earned,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “I’m glad that this bipartisan bill to help more veterans take advantage of their VA benefits has passed the Senate. I’ll keep working to improve outreach and support for Nevada veterans.”
Senator Rosen has been a leader in supporting Nevada’s veterans. She recently secured a bipartisan provision to expand telehealth services for veterans in this year’s Senate government funding package. She also secured authorization for a new VA hospital in Reno and Nevada’s first-ever in-state Veteran Business Outreach Center. Senator Rosen has also co-sponsored the bipartisan GUARD VA Benefits Act to protect veterans from predatory practices. Last year, she helped pass the bipartisan PACT Act to extend VA benefits and health care to all veterans suffering from illnesses as a result of exposure to burn pits and other toxins during their service overseas.
