Rosen Votes to Advance Bill to Increase Funding for U.S. Border Security & Provide Aid to Israel

Senator Rosen Calls On Colleagues To Resume Negotiations To Find Bipartisan Deal To Support Border Security

WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) voted yesterday to advance a supplemental aid package to provide $14 billion for U.S. border security, security assistance to Israel and Ukraine, and humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza. Unfortunately, this was blocked from passing due to Republican opposition. Earlier in the day, Senator Rosen spoke on the Senate floor in support of unconditional aid to Israel.

“This funding package would invest an additional $14 billion to secure our border while finally getting Israel the security assistance it needs to defend itself against Hamas,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “We cannot keep pushing off these urgent national security priorities. I’m ready to support a bipartisan path forward that will invest in our border security and provide Israel and Ukraine with the aid they desperately need. I hope my colleagues on both sides of the aisle come together to get this done.”

The national security supplemental funding package included:

  • $13.6 billion to strengthen border security, meet operational needs at the southern border, reduce backlogs, and humanely process migrants.
  • The Rosen-backed FEND Off Fentanyl Act, which would help combat fentanyl trafficking by requiring the President to sanction drug rings involved in international drug trafficking, including chemical suppliers in China and cartels from Mexico, while cracking down on fentanyl-related money laundering and declaring fentanyl trafficking a national emergency.
  • Critical security assistance to help Israel defend itself, including $4 billion for missile defense capabilities.
  • $1 billion for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to help synagogues, Jewish Community Centers, and other places of worship and nonprofits make security enhancements in the face of rising antisemitic and other hate-based threats.
  • Support for Ukraine as it defends itself from Putin’s invasion and provides critical resources for the Ukrainian people.
  • Assistance to support partners in the Indo-Pacific, like Taiwan, as they combat the threat of China.
  • Humanitarian assistance to provide emergency food, water, shelter, and basic services to civilians in Gaza.
