Rosen Helps Introduce Bipartisan Extension of the Affordable Connectivity Program to Keep High-Speed Internet Affordable

This Program, Which Rosen Helped Create In The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Has Been Used By More Than 264,000 Nevada Families, Saving Them An Estimated $7.3 Million Every Month On High-Speed Internet Access

WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped introduce the bipartisan Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act to allocate $7 billion for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides qualifying households across the U.S. with affordable high-speed internet. Since its implementation, more than 264,296 Nevada households have utilized the program’s monthly discount ranging from $30 to $75 for internet service, saving an estimated $7.3 million every month. Without additional funding, this program is projected to expire in April 2024. As one of the lead authors of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s broadband provisions, Rosen helped create the ACP.

“The Affordable Connectivity Program that I helped create through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is making high-speed internet more affordable for over 260,000 Nevada families and saving them an estimated $7.3 million every month,” said Senator Rosen. “In this day and age, high-speed internet is essential for every Nevadan, and I’m proud to introduce this bipartisan bill to keep it affordable and lower costs for hardworking families.”

Senator Rosen has been leading efforts to lower costs and expand high-speed internet access across Nevada. She recently led a group of 31 colleagues in urging Congressional leaders to extend funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program.  In June, she announced that Nevada would receive over $43.5 million to increase high-speed internet access as a result of her Middle Mile Broadband Deployment Act. Earlier this year, Senator Rosen successfully pressed the Federal Communications Commission to fix their deeply flawed broadband maps, resulting in more than $416 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program coming to Nevada to connect families to high-speed internet.
