Rosen Commemorates 12th Anniversary of DACA, Calls for Comprehensive Immigration Reform & Continued Protection for Dreamers

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement commemorating the 12th anniversary of the creation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

“For more than a decade, DACA has provided thousands of Dreamers in Nevada with much-needed protection from deportation while empowering them to attend college, participate in the economy, access health care, and contribute to our state,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “It’s shameful that Congress hasn’t been able to get its act together and work in a bipartisan way to provide DACA recipients with a pathway to citizenship. As we commemorate the 12th anniversary of this critical program, I renew my call on both parties to provide Dreamers with the certainty they need to achieve the American Dream and push for comprehensive immigration reform that provides them permanent relief and a path to citizenship.”

Senator Rosen has repeatedly called for a legislative fix to protect DACA recipients and provide them a pathway to citizenship. At a hearing earlier this year, Senator Rosen raised concerns over the significant application delays impacting DACA recipients. Last Congress, she gave a floor speech urging her Senate colleagues to take immediate, standalone action to permanently protect Dreamers while simultaneously continuing to work to pass comprehensive immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship.
