Rosen Votes for Bill Supporting Reproductive Freedom, Anti-Choice Republicans Block Passage

WASHINGTON DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after anti-choice Republicans in the Senate blocked the passage of the Reproductive Freedom for Women Act. The legislation, which she voted for and helped introduce, would have reaffirmed support for restoring Roe v. Wade’s reproductive rights and protections.

“The Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade opened the door to countless extreme anti-choice attacks on women’s reproductive freedoms – putting at risk women’s health and ability to make their own family planning decisions,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “I helped introduce this legislation to reaffirm our support for restoring Roe in federal law. I’m deeply disappointed that anti-choice Senate Republicans blocked it, but I won’t give up fighting to protect women’s freedoms to make their own reproductive and health care decisions. ”

Senator Rosen has been working to restore reproductive freedoms and oppose anti-choice efforts to restrict access to reproductive rights. Earlier this year, she joined legislation to protect IVF treatments in federal law. Senator Rosen also helped introduce the Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act to protect health care professionals from being prosecuted for providing reproductive care to their patients, which Senate Republicans recently blocked from passing earlier this week. She also recently voted to protect women’s constitutional right to access birth control.
