LAS VEGAS, NV – On Saturday, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined labor leaders from across the state at the Nevada State AFL-CIO’s Friends and Family Dinner to receive the Labor Champion of the Year Award.
“As a former union member in Nevada, I know firsthand how unions lift up working families, and protect workers and their rights,” said Senator Rosen. “In the Senate, I’ve been proud to support legislation that protects workers’ rights, supports working families, and puts Nevadans first. I am truly honored to be named Labor Champion of the Year, and I will always stand with Nevada’s labor unions and their efforts to advocate for families, better working conditions, and fair wages.”
Senator Rosen has been a strong advocate for Nevada workers. Earlier this year, Senator Rosen helped introduce the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which would strengthen protections for workers’ right to organize a union and bargain for higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions. Senator Rosen also pushed Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su to ensure that Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) are being used for federal projects stemming from legislation she helped pass, including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the bipartisan CHIPS And Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.
