WASHINGTON DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after anti-choice Senate Republicans blocked the passage of the Access to Family Building Act, legislation Senator Rosen helped introduce to safeguard the ability to start or grow a family by establishing a legal right to access IVF and other assisted reproductive services.
“After overturning Roe v. Wade, anti-choice extremists are trying to do everything they can to control women’s family-planning decisions. We’ve recently seen extremists in Alabama try to block women from accessing IVF, and we need to proactively protect it in federal law, ” dijo el Senador Rosen. “It’s unconscionable that anti-choice politicians in the Senate opposed a common-sense bill that would’ve safeguarded women’s ability to start or grow their families through IVF. I’ll keep fighting to restore women’s reproductive freedoms and prevent politicians from telling women what to do with their bodies.”
Senator Rosen continues fighting to restore reproductive freedoms and fight efforts to restrict access to reproductive rights. Earlier this year, she joined legislation to protect IVF treatments in federal law. Senator Rosen also helped introduce the Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act to protect doctors and other health care professionals from being prosecuted for providing reproductive care to their patients. Last week, she voted to protect women’s constitutional right to access birth control.
