Rosen Announces $4 Million for Registered Apprenticeships, Workforce Development in Northern Nevada

WASHINGTON DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that Nevadaworks will be awarded $4 million from the Department of Labor to support Registered Apprenticeship programs and help develop a skilled workforce to fill in-demand careers in northern Nevada. Nevadaworks was established by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to support the workforce development system and provide workforce training to job seekers in northern Nevada.

“A good-paying job in our state shouldn’t require a college degree, which is why I’m doing everything I can to bring more Registered Apprenticeships and expand workforce development opportunities in Nevada,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “I’m pleased to announce that Nevadaworks has been awarded more than $4 million to help workers in northern Nevada get the training and skills they need to fill high-demand jobs.”

Senator Rosen has been working to support Nevada’s workforce in the midst of economic growth. Earlier this year, she announced the delivery of federal funding she secured as part of the FY23 Bipartisan Appropriations Package for workforce development in southern Nevada. Last year, she sent a bipartisan letter to the U.S. National Science Foundation Director requesting an update on the implementation of the provision she secured in the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act to support the critical mineral mining industry and bolster the mining workforce. Last Congress, Rosen also secured $14.9 million in funding to support workforce development projects in manufacturing, health care, information technology, and transportation across northern Nevada.
