Rosen Commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which falls on Monday, January 18, 2021:

“Today, we honor the incredible life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Dr. King devoted his life to fighting for equality, human rights, and justice. We have made progress as a nation, but we have hard work ahead of us to make Dr. King’s dream of a just and equal America a reality. Incidents of racial injustice that captured our attention this past summer still continue today. The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a light on the economic and health care disparities that communities of color face in our country. We must take meaningful steps to right these societal wrongs. I believe that we can see Dr. King’s dream realized by working together and taking action to lift up one another. Let us be guided by the words of Dr. King, ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’ Let us stand firm against the evils of bigotry, racism, and inequality. Together, let us continue to take steps toward reaching the ‘promised land’ of a unified country, one that Dr. King so vividly and eloquently described many years ago.”
