WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the Senate Committee Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), announced her co-sponsorship of the Keeping Critical Connections Act, bipartisan legislation to help small broadband providers ensure rural internet connectivity to underserved communities.
“Now, more than ever, it’s important for families to have access to fast and reliable broadband connections, regardless of their zip code,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “As we’ve seen over the past year, broadband access is critical in allowing our communities to go online to conduct business, engage in learning, and obtain medical care. We must take steps to ensure that families living in rural areas with limited internet access don’t get left behind. I will continue working to ensure that families and students stay connected to work, school, and their community during this difficult time.”
BACKGROUND: los Keeping Critical Connections Act would appropriate $2 billion for a Keeping Critical Connections fund at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under which small broadband providers with fewer than 250,000 customers could be compensated for broadband services under certain conditions.
Rosen co-sponsored this same legislation last Congress.
