During Teacher Appreciation Week, Rosen Joins Nevada Leaders to Celebrate CCSD Teacher, Recipient of the National Teacher of the Year Award

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), joined Nevada leaders at Kermit R. Booker Sr. Innovative Elementary School for an award presentation honoring Ms. Juliana Urtubey, a Clark County School District (CCSD) teacher who has won the 2021 National Teacher of the Year Award from the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO).

“Education is the key to future success, and today I was honored to join my colleagues to recognize a teacher who has gone above and beyond, someone who has worked to set our state’s students up for future success,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “This is truly a special moment, and I could not be prouder of Juliana Urtubey and the work she’s done as an educator. She is doing incredible work to help our students and to lift our community up to new heights. This award is so deserved, and I want Juliana and Nevada educators all over the state to know that we support them, and we are grateful for the work they are doing for our children.”

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) National Teacher of the Year Program identifies exceptional educators across the country, celebrates their work, provides them with unique professional development opportunities to amplify their voices, and empowers them to take part in policy discussions at the state and national level.

Senator Rosen also had the chance to speak with and congratulate Ms. Urtubey when she was named Nevada Teacher of the Year in January.
