WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) and the Special Committee on Aging, announced that she has joined the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act of 2021. This bipartisan legislation would allow Medicare reimbursement for pharmacists to provide health care services according to their scope of practice within their state – including health and wellness screenings, immunizations, and diabetes management – to seniors in rural and underserved areas.
“Nevada is suffering from a statewide shortage of medical providers, one that is disproportionately impacting older Nevadans living in our rural communities,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Many seniors living in rural areas experience a lack of access to health care and resources. That is why I am proud to co-sponsor bipartisan legislation that provides Medicare reimbursement for pharmacists to provide care to seniors, as they do for other patient populations under existing state licensing, increasing access to regular health care screenings, medication management, and health care services such as vaccine administration.”
