Bill Would Designate the Last Monday of September as “Gold Star Families Day”

WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, joined Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) in introducing bipartisan legislation dedicating the last Monday in September as “Gold Star Families Day,” a federal holiday in observance and recognition of sacrifices of Gold Star Family members when their loved one dies in service to the nation. The bill is also co-sponsored by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Mark Kelly (D-AZ).

“Our servicemembers put so much on the line for our country, and the families who lose a loved one in the line of duty deserve to be honored and recognized for the sacrifice they’ve had to bear,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Working on behalf of Nevada’s servicemembers and military families is a responsibility I take seriously, and I will always advocate for the families of our fallen heroes.”
