Rosen, Cortez Masto Announce $950,000 Grant to Boost Manufacturing Jobs in Nevada, Address Supply Chain Issues

WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) grant of nearly $950,000 awarded to operate a Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center at the University of Nevada, Reno. This grant will help create good-paying manufacturing jobs at Nevada small businesses by improving workforce development initiatives, addressing supply chain gaps for manufacturers, and connecting industry partners to cutting-edge research and development programs.

“I am thrilled to announce that Nevada will receive nearly $950,000 in funding for workforce development that will support our state’s growing manufacturing sector and help ease supply chain issues,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Boosting our manufacturing sector will continue to diversify Nevada’s economy, help prevent disruptions, and create more good-paying jobs.”

“There are so many terrific Nevada businesses, and they need support in their work to make products right here at home, address supply chain issues, and grow our economy,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “This grant funding will help Nevada continue its efforts to train workers for good-paying manufacturing jobs and expand our manufacturing industry.”

This NIST grant begins April 1 and will support the operation of a Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Center at the University of Nevada, Reno that will help adopt and expand recognized training credentials for Nevada manufacturers, increase access to STEM careers and education, and help mitigate supply chain disruptions for the state’s growing manufacturing sector.
