HENDERSON, NV — Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) participated in Nevada Reading Week during her visit with Selma F. Bartlett Elementary School’s third grade class. The Senator read to a group of 130 students comprising the entire third grade class.
“Books are key to unlocking a solid education and it’s important that we do all we can to help introduce our children to the joys of reading at an early age,” said Senator Rosen. “It was a pleasure to join the students at Bartlett Elementary and read an excerpt of Turning Pages: My Life Story, a book written by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. This book teaches our children to be fearless in pursuit of their dreams, no matter their circumstances, background, or obstacles. I will continue to do all I can in Congress to improve our children’s lives by fighting for access to quality education.”
BACKGROUND: Nevada Reading Week takes place every year as a statewide initiative for Nevadans to encourage and celebrate reading through community engagement initiatives. More information can be found here.
