ICYMI: Rosen Urges U.S. Department of Transportation to Stand Ready to Receive Nevada’s Application to Build a High-Speed Rail System, Ease Road Congestion

LAS VEGAS, NV – This week, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation urging them to stand ready to receive and review the Nevada Department of Transportation’s application for the Federal Railroad Administration’s Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant Program to construct a high-speed rail system between Las Vegas and Southern California. Brightline West projects that its proposed high-speed rail project will remove 3 million cars from Interstate-15 annually, reducing more than 400,000 tons of carbon emissions each year, and creating 35,000 good-paying jobs.

Reporter: “In a letter to the Department of Transportation, Senator Rosen says to stand by for a review of an application to build that line. It’s well-known as the Brightline West Project, there’s been some others over the years. But Rosen says this project will not only connect Las Vegas to California, but it will also bring a lot of jobs.”

Rosen: “We are ready to do this. This project needs to happen. It’s critical infrastructure. It’ll be one of the first few high-speed rail in in the country. And it will really have a huge, billions of dollars of economic impact, bringing tens of thousands of jobs to Southern Nevada – union jobs, and really just increasing year after year the tourist experience and the tourist dollars that we have in Nevada.”
