WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), announced her membership in the Congressional Cystic Fibrosis Caucus. This move comes following Senator Rosen’s August meeting with Elsie Hamer, an 8-year-old from Nevada diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
“As a Senator, one of my top priorities is to look after the health of Nevadans,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Meeting Elsie and her father and listening to them share their story impressed upon me the urgent need to take action in Congress to improve quality of life for those with cystic fibrosis. Elsie faces many challenges in her life, but she does so with courage and a smile. I joined the Cystic Fibrosis Caucus to fight for Elsie, and all other Nevadans with this disease by helping to raise awareness and by supporting medical research. I’ll continue to be an advocate for all Nevadans, and to make sure that they have access to the care that they deserve.”
BACKGROUND: Earlier this year, Rosen joined her Democratic colleagues in demanding that Congress defend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and all of its patient protections. During the press conference, Senator Rosen held up a picture of Elsie, who would be at risk of losing coverage should the ACA be struck down by the Fifth Circuit in the Texas v. United States case.
