WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement to mark one year since the January 6th insurrection against the U.S. Capitol.
“One year ago, violent insurrectionists launched a deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol as Members of Congress began the process of certifying the results of the presidential election. I remain grateful to the brave men and women of Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies who put themselves in harm’s way to protect not only the Capitol but democracy itself, and made it possible for my colleagues and I to re-enter the Capitol that night to continue the peaceful transition of power,” said Senator Rosen. “January 6th was an inflection point that underscored why we must keep working to stop the spread of disinformation, protect Americans’ voting rights, and bring our country back together. As we reflect on the events of that day, let it serve as a reminder of just how fragile our democracy can be, while also giving us the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to defending the values of our nation.”
